Time Machine - remove files from backup?

Hi everyone.

I was wondering if it were possible to delete files from backups, for every.

For instance, I have movies that were backed up. And they're huge .DV files. I can compress them with high quality MP4 and delete the original DVs. But the original DVs will still be in Time Machine. I'd like to remove them.

How to?

Don't believe you can. I've been trying to remove duplicate applications on my Time Machine backups and haven't been able to yet.

I think it should be possible by navigating to the folder in TM backup where you have stored the backup and deleting it. But havent really explored it myself. Dont know if that makes the entire TM backup unusable

Time Machine is getting quite annoying because you can't change the frequency of when things get backed up!

Just run it once a day and then turn it off for auto back up. The app still comes up to restore and you schedule yourself.

yeap, that's what came to my mind.

I guess one could delete the files from the backup folder. Only thing is you will need to delete all the hard links from each folder cause of the way TM works...

a recursive unix command should be able to do that... just like the one that gets rid of .DS_Store files.
... wish I remembered it...
