If you have a much older email account, I'm not sure if by that it has to be 3 - 4 years old, you can link it up to Mail.app for free. I do it but then again I'm still using Tiger. You just use httpmail.plugin and set Hotmail up as a httpmail instead of POP.
Sooner or later httpmail will be Leopard friendly but it's just a waiting game really. If the developer has no interest in working on the project again the wait might be a whole lot longer.
I hope it's sooner though as it's a very useful plugin to have. I also have my Gmail come into Mail.app as well.
Try the httpmail plugin. It worked great with my account(s). I'm not sure about the account age either...it used to be that you couldn't even connect to Hotmail with Outlook if your Hotmail account was newer, but I think that is an old policy. When gmail came out, Hotmail got a lot better that way.
The httpmail plugin isn't compatible with Leopard and won't be. It says this at the developer's site. Good luck.
So, this is great news for the people who are used to HTTPMail Plugin and have recently or will soon be upgrading to Leopard.
Regarding the compatibility of Hotmail accounts and the HTTPMail Plugin, I think if you have a Hotmail account that pre-dates Hotmail Plus, then that account works with the plugin. I'd assume this will be the case once Daniel Parnell (developer of the plugin) finally has the Leopard version of the plugin at a beta stage.
Thanks to Spawn for QFTing me. I can't find now where I read that before...
The new version (1.5) is up on versiontracker. Now I have to consider Leopard again...
how long do you think its going to be before they get this version working on leopard. and im not sure but I think my hotmail account is 3 or 4 years old is that old enough?
