It seems like my video adapter likes to mess up and display colors all crazy until I do a reset of the PRAM and NVRAM. Anyone else have this issue? Have a fix?

This is what it looks like:

I have color problems too to a much lesser extent. At times my screen seems to take on a bluish tint or the colors fade (hard to tell which). Doesn't fix until I restart.

Looks like video card failure. I think linking it to Leopard is probably coincidence.

How often is it occuring, and do you notice it after a similar length of time or particular applications?

After it occurs, will a shut down for 1 minute and reboot without resetting also result in your display returning to normal?

It only ever happens after I restart, never when in sleep mode. It doesn't happen every time either. I tried to shut it down and wait to see if that would fix it but that didn't work so I just did a PRAM/NVRAM reset.

So, how many times has this happened and how often?

And so far, the only way to fix it has been a PRAM reset?

We've got some other hardware guys around, what do ya'll think?
Is there a battery on the systemboards in these things like there is for desktop systems that may need to be replaced?

It has happened 3 days, since Leopard came out, this most recent time it happened 4 times in a day since I did a lot of restarting to get to Boot Camp and back.

So far PRAM reset is the only way to fix it.

I think there is a battery in there but I doubt it would be bad already and the system clock is keeping the time fine which would normally be a sign of battery failure.

If you do not restart it but keep on using it does the screen ever mess up?

Under that scenario, I'd be back to thinking it is a hardware problem. My thinking would be system board. travis may have some more input.

It hasn't yet, as long as I just sleep or leave it on it works fine. I have restart a couple times today and so far so good.

Well, I may find out this weekend. Blew away my XP partition last weekend and will be reinstalling it somtime later this weekend. My old partition was created by BootCamp 1.2 and had no issues. New one will be created with 2.0.

And I have the latest firmware update they had mentioned.

yeah, I never had any boot camp issues when running the 1.0-1.2 versions. I have restart/shutdown like 10 times now and I haven't got it to do the graphics glitch once since I removed boot camp so I am really thinking that it had something to do with it even though that makes no sense at all.

Installed a BootCamp'd XP Pro (NTFS) yesterday.
So far haven't done anything there except install the 85 windows updates, but no video issue to report as of yet. Still early. By the end of today I should have XP set back up to my liking. And have booted back and forth several times I suspect. Will let you know my results later in the weekend.

How did you install Leopard - it may or may not have any bearing.
And you also have the X1600 video card?

I did a clean install. I have the 256MB X1600.

A couple days have passed since I removed boot camp and so far so good.

After a couple days now, still have not had the issue you've experienced.
Have restarted maybe 12-15 times over the few days, and done some back and forth between XP and OS X.

That may be about all the testing my rig gets with it as I never turn it off. And restarting is limited to the semi-rare occasion of my need to be in XP nowadays.
