MacBook Pro 15", 2.4ghz C2D 4gb RAM,320gb WD Black 7.2k RPM. + iPhone 8Gb
hi guys

so the macbooks now will run up to 4gb i have been told that apple have not changed the hardware and just used software to let the macbooks run 4gb dose this mean there is a way for the older macbooks to run 4gb of ram??

actually, if I am not completely mistaken the new mbs support 4GB because of the santa rosa chip...
the C2D only can utilize max. 3GB
and the CD only 2GB

My MacBook is a C2D and it will take a max of 2gig

It wont even boot up with 3gig or 4gig - i have tried!

not so sure why it didn/t work out for you...but there are tons of users that have upgraded to 3GB and use it without problems.

I suggest to go with brands that are known to be compatible with macs like crucial, owc, etc.

The new C2D SR MBs can use 4gb.

the old CD only 2GB
and the old C2D only 3GB

if you have any form of C2D, you should be able to use AT LEAST 3GB
