Im not sure how to explain this problem exactly, but I am having an issue with bittorent/azureus and opening the specific ports they need to have opened in order to operate. I have accessed system preferences and completely turned off my firewall, but still am not able to download any files. The internet works fine, and I dont think the problem exists with the router because it has worked on the same router in the past without any settings being modified. Is there something I am missing here, any help would be appreciated.

Some ports are blacklisted by ISP's, so which port number are you using?
If it's not that, you will need to forward the ports in your router.
