In less than 2 days I will own my first imac.

I currently have a dlink airplus extreme G wireless router.

This might be a dumb question, bear in mind I am in pre newbie stage with imac

here are my imac specs

Specifications

* 1GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM - 1x1GB
* 250GB Serial ATA Drive
* SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
* Apple Mighty Mouse
* Apple Keyboard (English) + Mac OS X
* Accessory kit
* 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB memory
* 20-inch glossy widescreen LCD
* AirPort Extreme
* Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

How much better served would I be to go buy a 802.11n wireless router. If so what would one recommend?

I thank you all for any help provided...

I bought the airport extreme and have had no problems with it. I connect a linux/xp/macbook/iMac with it. I also have an external hd and two printers shared through it.

Are you transferring large files on a LAN? If not then you have no need for a N-spec router, and by large files I mean 10+GB in size.
