Your Mac's Specs
20" Intel iMac 2.4 Ghz/3G Ram/320HD, Snow Leopard. PBook G4, 1.5Ghz/1.5 Ram/250 HD, Leopard 10.5.6.
If it uses a standard line out stereo lead, then you could use a usb interface.
I use an Edirol UA1 -EX for ripping vinyl to my Mac (via Audio Hijack)
It is superb, with lots of quality options up to 96000 khz 24 bit if you wish.
It costs around £70.

I have a M-Audio Firewire 410 which is a stereo (2 channel input). You just need a stereo input from your mixer to output to your laptop. Keep in mind the gain structure... what is distorted on your mixer will be distorted on the recording, but if you crank up the digital input and keep the mixer low, you may get noise.

audacity is free. It will do 2 inputs fine, and you can even do some post processing. Some of their effects are wierd though. You could always go with a combo pack from m-audio and get a box with protools, either the m-box or a card and m-powered protools. what board do you have

Audio Hijack Pro is brilliant. Well worth it's £30 price tag.

yup. or you could do it through a soundcard that does midi and you could use any of the synth programs in the computer to open a whole new world. WELCOME TO MIDI
