Fonts squished together

I had a new hard drive installed yesterday after my first one failed. I didn't have a backup so I had to reinstall everything. At the Apple store, they did install tiger, but it didn't have my iWork 08 on it, so I used my Tiger factory CD (I think that's what I was supposed to do). Well, I couldn't figure out how to just install iWork, so I ran the option of installing all the bundled software without installing Tiger. Now, everything works fine, including iWork, but some letters are squished together when viewing websites. When you look at the image, you'll notice that some of the f and u are overlapping.
