keyboard fix?

i'm a switched programmer, and theres a few things I was wondering if I could kill.

whenever i hit shift + backspace, it works like a normal delete. I know this is a feature, because normally apple's kb's dont come with the standard delete key, but can i disable this? also, the "home" and "end" keys dont work on my usb keyboard. is it possible I can reassign these keys to have the shortcut of command + ->, etc?
