Popping sound with external speakers..

Is anyone else experiencing a 'popping sound' with external speakers plugged in?

Basically what happens is, before every tone,sound,etc.. there is a slight popping sound and then the actually tone is played.

sounds like clipping? turn the volume down on your laptop and turn the speakers up.
