Hmmm... I guess that was inevitable - illegal, but inevitable.

Anyone going to a porn site and accepting a download and then putting in an admin password deserves what they get no matter what platform they are running. That is NO VIRUS by the way. And the only way you can get it is doing something you should never do.

So much for the marketing line that there aren't any Mac viruses...

I guess I really will need to buy an antivirus afterall...

:(

It's NOT a Virus it's Trojan. There is a big difference.

I thought about how this could be easily avoidable, and that any Mac user with the use of common sense could avoid this. But then I realized that there have been a few times, where I've had to install a plug-in viewer to access content, and I did it without thinking once. It never came to mind that it could compromise my mac in a way. Once this goes beyond the use of adult websites to friendlier looking sites, this could start to be a problem some.

Actually, could anyone point me to where I can get a copy of this? I'd love to have a play around with it :)

(PS. Better PM me rather than posting a link... I'd hate for someone to accidently be taken to some dubious website)

EDIT: Got it :D

Trojan Horse Discussed in MacWorld article

I found the description and a manual resolution for this Trojan horse in an online article from MacWorld:

www.macworld.com/article/60823/2007/10/trojanhorse.html

www.macworld.com/article/60823/2007/10/trojanhorse.html

Before finding the article, I tried reinstalling the OSX 10.4 disks with option "archive" (rather than "erase") and that removed it. The MacWorld article looks a lot simpler and quicker. After reinstalling, I found/used the manual techniques described in the article and they confirmed the removal of the Trojan Horse.

This is my first post. I trust I haven't violated any protocols.
