GIMP and Leopard... problems?

After I open GIMP 2.4 the first click I make on the new project automatically quits GIMP for some reason.
So I try the older GIMP and it won't even open!

Is it Leopard, GIMP, or me?

It's not you. It's x11. Leaving work in a moment so this will be brief, but Apple apparently went from xfree86 to xorg and the transition wasn't great. I found a method of removing Leopard's x11 and installing Tiger's x11. While what I saw seemed legit and reasonable, I've not done it. The link is below, but I'd do some other searching first before considering it. (I saw things referencing this at the Apple site, so I believe it is legit. It's not necessarily a foolproof process.)

Accordingly, the Gimp is broken. Also cut-n-paste in an x11 xterm is also broken. My guess is that we'll see an update in the next month or two.
