iChat AV coming out of right speaker only?

with headphones on, i can hear both channels but using laptop speakers, sound only comes out of the right speaker with iChat AV. is this normal?

The microphone is located under the left speaker, so I believe that when you are using the mic (w/ ichat cam) the left is the mic (and shuts off the speaker) and the right is the speaker.
