Repartition my Hard disk

I want to reformat and repartition my startup disk. Disk utility wont let me do any of the partitioning because my startup disk is in use because its my only hard drive. How do I go about partitioning it into 2 and then reinstalling tiger?

MB White 160GB, 2GB RAM,
You can not partition the bootup drive when the OS is up and running.... you need to boot from the installation CD (tiger/Leopard)...
