As stated, you need 2 1GB sticks of DDR2 667MHz (PC5300 or PC5400- they're the same thing) 200 pin LAPTOP ram (SODIMMs) made by a reputable company.

OCZ, Crucial, Mushkin, Corsair, Patriot and OWC-branded RAM are all good. Barring those choices, look for something that has a lifetime warranty. If you're in the U.S., check these sites:
www.newegg.com
www.frys.com
www.crucial.com
www.macsales.com (OWC)

Also, the MacBook will, unofficially, do 3GB. It needs 1 1GB stick, and 1 2GB stick, but it will do it. OWC sells a kit for it.

yes you can install apple ram yourself and it DOESN'T void your warranty, for more info you can go to the apple online support pages or there are various guides if you type something relevant into google.

nope, apple encourages the procedure and even provides manuals as to how to do it.
