Help! My macbook pro won't boot. It hangs at the white screen after the chimes. I did the "c" key with mac disk, and used disk utility. It said "disk utility stopped repairing "disk0s2" because the following error was encountered: The underlying task reported failure on exit." I hae alot of school data on this mac. Can anyone help me solve this problem? THanks

Someone will correct me if I am wrong here, but I believe now would be a good time to get a copy of Disk Warrior. It can fix file systems that disk utility can not.

I tried that. It saids that "the new directory cannot replace the original directory because of a disk malfunction" Now, it froze a little way when it was rebuilding for the second time. And i pressed the button to force shut down. Now the mac won't boot up. It chimes like 4 times at the white screen. HELP!
