I have a macbook pro with ATI Radeon x1600 vid card. Im running an external Dell 2007wfp monitor. The max rez it will allow me to display is 1680x1050. I read the vid card max display can be set at 2400x1600 (or something very close to that)

I tried closing the mac into sleep mode, then connecting the display, and nothing seems to work. (including detecting displays)

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Are you using the second display as "mirror" or as a secondary display?

1680x1050 is the max resolution the display can handle. It doesn't matter if your video card can do higher.

What's the max the monitor can handle? I'm using a new MBP (the latest 15") and can output the video to my 23" ACD at 1920x1200.
