How can i setup my MBP so that when i bring it out of standby, it requires me to type in my password? Right now it's just automatically signing me in. How do i change it?

You can set it in System Preferences > Security

Check "Require Password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver

Optionally, you can also Log out after x minutes of inactivity. (select the appropriate checkbox)
