Hi,

I have been thinking about the iPhone, but I don't like the way of pricing.

£35 for 200 minutes and texts, okay unlimited data and free wifi. But I think in all that package should be £30.

Will O2 drop the tariff charges after a few months?

Thanks,

Nick.

I wish.

The unlimited data only applies within "O2's acceptable use policy" which probably means it's not unlimited at all. Unfortunately these guys know that people will pay extra for the iPhone, so they'll charge more for it.

I don't expect the tariff will be dropped, I think they'll want to keep the prices high. You can probably expect to get more for your money after a while though. I hope to get more texts certainly.

I believe the "unlimited" data is limited to 1GB per month.

As far as I know for Blackberry tariffs when it says unlimited data use, the Max usage is 200MB, not sure about the iphone plans thou its not so clearly mentioned on O2 web site .

*Fair usage policy applies (200MB a month). The monthly charge excludes web browsing on non RIM manufactured (BlackBerry Connect™) devices and O2 Active (WAP) browsing.

Understatement!

Their (O2's) fair usage policy for their USB Modems is from 1 to 3 gig per month and thats why im questioning the other post about the iphone having a limit of 1gig per day

I guess calling in to an O2 store and talking to a sales rep would answer this, but im not calling in until the phone is launched.

I believe it is a special deal thing with the iPhone, according to MacWorld UK, Matthew Key, aka O2 CEO said to them that unlimited fair usage is around 1400 internet pages per day. so 1Gb per day sounds about right, obviously depends on their definition of internet page ;) a blank page is vastly different to say the front page of BBC etc :)

Cheers Wytey - now if Apple would just release a firmware update before the UK release, to allow the iphone to be tethered to a MAC via bluetooth to allow the MAC to use the iphones net connection.

I'm hoping O2 follows their usual policy, that is, send the phones unlocked :) if not, then I'll be seeing what Orange France gets up to, considering that Apple can not sell it locked to Orange there :)

Has orange's network improved?
Had a 12month contract with them about 5 years ago and couldnt wait for the contract to terminate so bad was their coverage! Have been with O2 ever since and very happy with them.

as far as I know, the Orange UK coverage has not improved much if at all, but I am after a legally unlocked iPhone :) which if the UK can not provide, then Orange France might be my only option.

No longer want one...

I was so looking forward to getting an iPhone when it came to the UK, but as of today, I have changed my mind. The phone doesn't take video & the camera is terrible. The pricing is frankly ridiculous, I just can't bring myself to buy it. I love apple products, but what a let down. :|

I hope the next generation of iPhone addresses these problems.

Ok i went and checked at an O2 shop last night about the pricing. You have to buy the Iphone at £275.00 first and then pay £35 per month on the contract.

No way am i paying that.
