I'm loving the IMAC and cant wait until I get Leopard - I would like to utilize the "Time Machine" functionality - I was looking at the Seagate FreeAgent Pro and the Western Digital External drives - Since Firewire is an option on both, but adds to the cost - The question is, is it worth it or should I just stick to USB 2.0?

Also my IMAC has a 750 GB drive I was figuring a 320 external for time machine - Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help!

Firewire is DEFINITELY worth it. I find I get much better throughput on my Firewire drives than I do on my USB2.0 drives. I would recommend it.

Yes! Go Firewire if at ALL possible.

Though I'm not so sure about that 320GB external.... try and up it to at least 500GB.

320 GB not large enough

Though I'm not so sure about that 320GB external.... try and up it to at least 500GB.

Ya think?? I cancelled the 320GB order, the 750 GB is kind of expensive but the 500 is doable - Why do you think the 320's too small?

Thanks!

Well your internal drive has a lot of stuff. And if you are going to use Time Machine, it's definitely going to fill up real soon. Of course, if you are using just 100GB of space on your iMac, then 320 is doable...
