for any one who may care this is actually a better deal than the student discount. according to apple's education site the student discount brings price to 116$. this makes price 99$!

Unfortunately not. Normally yes but all compusa closed in chicago where I am so by the time I add shipping its not much difference.

Alas that it isn't a straightforward discount. I don't have a great deal of faith in mail-in rebates myself ... have been stiffed on them too many times. (Comp USA is especially notorious for this, judging both from what I've heard and what I've personally experienced with them.)
