That article's from 2006. ;)

Lots of companies have been using Cider and a lot of games are porting over to the Mac. However, Apple still isn't putting great video cards in their machines, so we still won't be able to play games quite as well as Windows users with custom machines.

Most gamers aren't too excited about using Cider, Wine and other means because it means a lot of speed is lost in the translation and, as CA mentioned, Macs typically don't come with the most up to date video cards to begin with.

The way Apple's popularity with computer is taking off, it may not be too long before there's enough of a market base to make porting more popular games to OS X more profitable and attractive to game developers.
