Hey there :D

I ordered my upgrade of leopard and i'll be getting it 5 days after the 26th!

My question is, should I upgrade right away? or wait a little untill some problems are solved (after all it's a new OS)?

Oh and I just got my new mac so I'm still getting to know Tiger (my first mac ever).

Thanks a lot!!! :D

Its all up to you. I know several of the members here are going to upgrade on Friday. I'm actually buying a brand new Mac and will be installing Leopard friday night.

I think I'll wait till I get a new mac, $129 is a lot of money since the only thing I really want is Spaces.

If all you really want is Spaces, then you definitely don't need Leopard yet. Not sure if you already know about it, but VirtueDesktops is basically a free Spaces for 10.4, and it works REALLY well - I use it every single day. :)

They've stopped any future development of VirtueDesktops since Leopard is here, but for those not upgrading, it is an excellent implementation of multiple workspaces.

I'll wait through the weekend. If no one commits suicide as OSX.5 erases their porn collection, I'll upgrade ;)

But I'm pretty sure there won't be any real issues. The upgrade process is going to be rather straightforward. For me, the biggest deal with the Leopard upgrade is making up my mind what external drive I'm going to buy for Time Machine.

Since I know that 10.5 isn't going to interact badly with ay of my hardware and likely none of my software (or porn) I will be installing on Friday.

I'll be updating right away on Friday as well (that is, if my copy is delivered on the 26th as stated :) ). I will definitely check in on Mac-forums to join in the fun of everyone discussing their experiences.

So I've never done an install with the OS X upgrade...so should I be able to update my PowerBook G4 with pretty much no problems? I'm just mainly wanting to make sure my documents and emails will be safe before I purchase...

Don't know anything about a G4 as I am too new to Mac's.
There are plenty around here that claim they've never had a problem with upgrading their Mac.
However, I can not, and even they do not suggest doing this type of upgrade without backing up your important files first. Whether user error during the install or due to the installation itself, data loss is no fun.

To everyone out there considering whether to purchase Leopard & upgrade, but you still have no backup plan in operation to save your valuable documents and files - IMHO, forget Leopard - for basically the same money, go get yourself a 500GB external drive for backups first.

As long as they have enough in stock I'll buy one tomorrow.

But just curious why buy a copy if you're only going to wait? Buy it when you've decided instead of waiting.

call me crazy but after my troubles with winblows and the 360bucks i dropped on vista premium. I'm waiting till after the holidays. Besides I'm gonna drop 179 for the AEBS since my connection sucks with my 2wire 2701.It pisses me off my 4 year old (800 bucks when bought) winblows laptop runs fine to the router. But my 3400 dollar MBP isnt worth using via airport.

My only concern is how it will interact with Parallels.
