Is it worth getting Micromat's TechTool Pro software for my Macbook Pro or is it a waste of money?

I got it free with my applecare, but I never found it to be of any use. Maybe it's cause i didn't explicitely pay for it :)

TechTool Pro is used for two main things. a) giving you an early warning when something is about to fail so you can do something about it before your system dies. b) making sure you can recover your data, and possibly fix the problem after it's died.

As long as you make regular, bootable backups of your system then (b) is of limited use, and it depends how much you're will to pay for (a).
