Really don't want to spend over 100.00 if I can help it. Where is a good place to buy from ??
I have seen some around my town with 500GB for 149.00 is that a good price ??
I thought that all I would need is like maybe 60GB but can't seem to find anything that small. Is it better to get a big one ??

I know nothing about hard drives

Thanks for the input

I just bought a 500GB Lacie D2 quadra with firewire 800 for my wife's MBP for $188. I thought that was a good price for 800mbps firewire...

She can also boot off of it in case she has an internal drive issue cause we use superduper for backups

That maxtor should be fine if all you want to do is copy over some pictures and stuff...

For pictures and music, that drive would be perfect.

buy.com often has specials on external HDD's. Give them a try. I got a 500B WD My Book from them several months ago and I haven't had any problems.

I got a Portable WD Passport from buy.com. It's great, if not huge, which I didn't need anyway. It does come with diff size hard drives. Plus I saved money by using the google checkout and no taxes. Worked for me.

Seagate or Western Digital - stay AWAY FROM MAXTOR! Please, trust me on this :)

There should be plenty of offerings in your budget range.

I've had a lot of luck with Maxtor myself, although others seem to hate them. Since they are now manufactured by Seagate, recommending one and not the other seems a bit silly.
