Emailing from iPhoto

Just a quick question from a newbie -
I use Thunderbird as my email client on my new MacBook, but iPhoto doesn't give me a choice to use it as the email client in the iPhoto preferences.
The drop down box lists America Online, Eudora, Mail and Entourage with all of them grayed out except Mail.
Is there a way to get iPhoto to recognize Thunderbird ?
