"Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard and its 300-plus new features and innovations are coming Oct. 26, 2007.

If you buy a qualifying Mac between October 1, 2007 and December 29, 2007, and it does not include Mac OS X Leopard, you’re eligible to get Leopard after it’s released for just A$ 12.95 plus tax."

what do you guys think about the probability of ordering a new macbook and not having Leopard pre-installed???

If you order before October 26, the probability is most likely high. If you order it after October 26, I would have to say the probability is rather low...

Yea, it all depends on when you order it. It's not going to come with 10.5 installed before it's released.
I would think even OS X has it's flaws and such on its release date. I wouldn't want my Mac to come with only 10.5 installed. I will be installing 10.5 on a second drive and give it a few weeks before I remove 10.4.

I ordered my new PowerBook a month after Tiger was released. It came with Panther installed, with a free up-to-date disk in the mail. EveryMac notes that these models "Shipped with MacOS X 10.4 'Tiger' starting October 19, 2005." (Tiger came out on April 29TH, 2005.)

Other people, who bought other models at the same time I did, got Tiger preinstalled.

So the answer is, "It depends."

I don't care if I can get an upgrade for free. I'm waiting. 2 reasons:

1. In case they also decide to revise or update any part of their hardware line around the same time

2. In case some sort of error/problem was discovered after it got shipped and updating could make my life more complicated
