crashing???

hey guys sorry if this has been asked before, but i cant find the same info...

sometimes, when the macbook has been asleep (usually for long periods such as over night) when i resume from sleep by moving the mouse etc the screen turns back on although the mouse pointer turns into that multi-coloured spinning disk and stays like that. i have to switch it off from the button. any ideas??

TLI - too little information. Hardware rev, OS version, how long do you wait and look at the SBOD before killing the box, what apps do you normally have idling when the box goes to sleep, how often do you normally reboot, can you notice any differences based on external factors, what peripheral devices are you using, etc.
