Please be gentle as I am new to this. I just purchased an iMac 24 and a MacBook Pro. I don't think I need the .mac account so how do I set up a free account (best way, best quality) to video conference between my MacBook and the iMac when I am away from home?

I forgot to add tha'ts it's free. Just download to both macs from their site set up two account names and you should be good to go

Nope, as long as the user opens an AIM user account (free), iChat is good to go.
