hd problems

hi iknow i need to format my new external HD but when igo to format it volume format is blanked out. please take a look at the attache file

That's because, as I told you in the other thread you created, you don't have the correct drive selected in the left window pane.

Your external drive is not showing up in Disk Utility. This means that it is not being recognized by your computer. Make sure it is plugged in properly and that the drive is actually powered on (making noise).

Be aware that although some 2.5" (notebook) hard drives can be powered by the USB bus, others can not - you may need to use an external power source.
