my network or charter? (speed)

I'm connecting to the internet on my mbp via airport and a linsys router. I constantly lose access but still have access on my windows laptop that also connects wirelessly. Is there a setting that needs changing? Like when I type in an address and hit enter it takes a few times and most of the time wont end up going to the page. I come back over and over to try again and it can take up to a half hour before it goes.
