Imaging a CD/DVD

Hello everyone,

I'm in a location that has a very slow/non existent form of internet and recently wanted to acquire the latest Ubuntu release. I don't want to download it since a friend of mine here has it already on a disk. All that I want to do is copy that disk and image it. Any ideas?

You need ideas on how to copy it and extract the .iso? If so, I would use a tool such as PowerIso or DaemonTools (Free trial of PowerIso: http://www.poweriso.com/download.htm). Both of these programs are capable of extracting .iso's from CDs I believe. As for copying the CD, I would suggest CloneCD (http://www.slysoft.com). I think that's what you wanted anyways.
