CD+R and CD-R - what's the difference and is there any advantage to using one over the other?

EDIT: DVD+R and DVD-R, not CD. Thank you Kash...

There's no such thing as CD+R, only CD-R. Now there IS a difference between DVD+R and DVD-R.

They're just two different formats for recordable DVDs. Generally, DVD-R has better support with standalone DVD players, but it's only a small margin since all new players support both formats.

So essentially, just buy whichever one is cheaper. But if you want to err on the side of caution, go with DVD-R
