Archive and Install

I was thinking about getting leopard, but just wanted to ask about archive and install.

on apples website it says that only certain apps are transfered to the previous system folder. These include:
/Applications/Address Book.app
/Applications/AppleScript
/Applications/Calculator.app
/Applications/Chess.app
/Applications/Clock.app
/Applications/DVD Player.app
/Applications/Extras/BlastApp.app
/Applications/iChat.app
/Applications/Image Capture.app
/Applications/Internet Connect.app
/Applications/Mail.app
/Applications/Preview.app
/Applications/QuickTime Player.app
/Applications/Sherlock.app
/Applications/Stickies.app
/Applications/System Preferences.app
/Applications/TextEdit.app

I just wanted to know what happens to the other apps, do they get deleted? If so, then if I were to backup my other apps like iWork and iLife and then transfer it after i've installed leopard would they work?
