How to backup Itunes

I have an a pretty good size iTunes library of almost 1,000 songs all with correct track numbers, albums, artists, and even album art. I have a 150GB external drive which I backed up my entire hardrive on, but whenever I pull songs off it , then place them in my itunes, they are the song, but the artist, the albumn art and etc. is gone.

How can I do this to drag and drop the library so that if my computer was to crash it would be backed up?

Try using the program SuperDuper. It will back everything else too. It's free and you can get it off versiontracker.

Copy the whole iTunes Library folder to the new location.

What format is the external drive?
