Coulter now says that women should not be allowed to vote. Well, at least not single women.

I don't even react to her comments anymore. She is clearly just trying to sell books (quite successfully). But I still think she is one of the only people I truly despise in this country.

Yeah, I'm a Republican and I can't stand her. The far right is just as bad as the far left IMO.

It is actually a federal constitutional republic structured as a representative democracy.

It's people like Ann Coulter and Michael Moore that made me become a libertarian. They're essentially the same person in my book. Their ability to reason is blocked by their hatred of the other side. They focus more on how wrong they believe the other side is instead of how right they are. Coulter doesn't care if her opinion is based on fact, just as long as it isn't liberal. They don't realize that if they don't have facts to support their side, then they're no better than the people they attack. I think the great Bob Dylan sums up the problem with the hard-core libs and conservatives:

"In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I'd become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My existence led by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now."

If we taught people more critical thinking skills, I think we'd have many fewer people supporting these extremists.

That's kind of a cynical way to look at it. I think she just really hates liberals and doesn't care how irrational her own positions are.

Democrats and Republicans have nothing to do with what type of govt we have. It's all just marketing. It's like calling yourself the family values candidate even though you're having a homosexual affair and are hooked on crystal meth. It's all about appearances.

I agree. However, although I do not really like him, I still do not think Michael Moore is nearly as bad.

There are some pretty crazy liberals though.

ya ya i know it doesnt mean anything, but if you simply look at the names, its just doesnt make sense, like i feel like a 1st grader saying this stuff and trust me im slightly smarter than that.

i hate politics, i used to spend A LOT of time reading and thinking and being and going off about it, but then i realized its kinda futile...

to quote the best movie ever made, waking life:

The powers that be want us to be passive observers. And they haven't given us any other options outside the occasional, purely symbolic, participatory act of voting. You want the puppet on the right or the puppet on the left? I feel that the time has come to project my own inadequacies and dissatisfactions into the sociopolitical and scientific schemes, let my own lack of a voice be heard.

I try hard to cut out the extreme from both sides. We are becoming way too divided as a nation.

I think people tend to forget that America was founded on the principle of 'freedom'. Where supposedly the people have a choice to vote and elect local and national leaders. Taking away women's suffrage wouldn't be very 'American' now would it?
As a matter of fact, if the Democrats and the Republicans are so 'stupid' 'ignorant' 'evil' 'etc' we should just solve this issue and have a one party system. No, I take that back. Lets take it a step further and empower a dictator so that he or she can dictate every aspect of our lives. Cause you know... the people don't know whats best for the people...

I'm a democratic socialist, but even in my few years as a republican (yes, yes I was), I couldn't stand Coulter. Personally, I'd like someone to shoot me because she and I can no longer continue to co-exist on this planet.

I agree. However, one should keep in mind that from a Historical perspective this is not the first time this has happened and I doubt it will be the last.

The parallel between Coulter and Moore is pretty clear.

The frightening thing is that many of our elected officials believe just that ~ "the people don't know what's good for them, we know better."

how can she say that? does she know that if people decided to be stupid and actually listened to her, that she herself would not be able to vote?

This kind of reminds me of a little town in alberta, and the mayor came on the stage of a Christmas Concert. "and now the mayor of our town would like to say a word."

She came up, and said: A word.

Then she walked off the stage.\

I don't know why it reminds me of that, maybe just because they're both annoying weird politicians.
