ipod video totally dead

My ipod video (just out of warranty) has just died.

When I try to charge it it just goes hot. I have tried all the types of reset I can find but it remains a totally blank screen and is not recognised on any computers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

My friend...I think you iPod is "dead" This could be a # of problems...HDD, Firmware, Path Directery, Battery. I would say to get a new iPod 8(

People Purchase dead Ipods on Ebay in order to salvage parts and the HD...
Honestly there is nothing you can really do especially if its getting HOT on charge... I was very Luck I had a 30gb Video that wasent charging I was one month from Warranty Expiration and the apple store gave me a refurbished one to replace it, Lucky they still have plenty in the back room..
If you go to the apple store you may get lucky and they may exchange it for a refurbished one...

same with me..mine went dead a couple months when it came out and i got a new one. obviously they didn't have to check if it was still under warrantee because it just came out a couple months.. hopefully they don't check yours gl

My old 2nd Gen used to do this from time to time, but it wasn't dead, just the drive had got stuck.
Try resetting as has been suggested, and do a software restore too, before condemning it as dead.
