Help with CSSEdit

Hi,

I am stuck with CSSEdit, I am using the trial version and I can not figure it out. I have created a new style, I save it, then export to the HTML file.

Everything should work right?

Well it doesn't what am I doing wrong?

I haven't used this program but I am going to take a shot in the dark.

Did you create a ".css" file in the program? In order for the CSS to show up correctly you need to link the .css file in the HTML file.

Example: <link href="/CSS/global.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen">

That would be in-between the <head> and </head> tags in your HTML document.

Thanks for your help, although it still doesn't work.

It exports the file but nothing. I cant understand why they want $40 for some craptastic program!!!

I will email them.

If you haven't paid for it yet, I would find another program.

I have seen people on this forum talk about Coda a lot.

I have never used it (I write my CSS by hand), but I wouldn't go so far as to call the program "craptastic".
Are you trying to create an inline style or a linked stylesheet?
If it is linked, then the code between your HEAD tags should be :
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="stylesheetneame.css" />

I am not understanding what you mean by "I have created a new style, I save it, then export to the HTML file."

If you are saving a stylesheet, it should have a ".css" extension... not an html file. If you are putting it inline, then you shouldn't have to export anything.

Well there is a function about exporting the .css file to the already created .html file. Well that doesn't work.........................................

This Mac being superfantastic, can't do that.

I put a link to the file, NOTHING. Put the file in the web page, NOTHING.

I am sick to death now of this HTML Mac rubbish.

That won't work becase the CSS code needs to go before the closing HEAD tag ( </head> ).
Also, if "mypagestyle" is meant to be a class, then there should be a period at the beginning in your code, so it should read ".mypagestyle"

That code also shows a linked stylesheet. Be sure to place that CSS sheet in your page's root directory (at least according to the way it is written in what you posted).

My index.php (the code you see above) is in the same directory of my css file (cpa_llc.css).

It sounds like you aren't very familar with html or css. CSSEdit, from my limited experience (also using the trail right now), is not a beginner program. Perhaps it would be more beneficial to you to do some html and css tutorial reading. Here's a good site for information: http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_howto.asp

I know I am responding to this late but I have to respond because it amuses me. You are so mad at the computer and program like they are to blame. CSS and html can be created with a word program so there is very little the computer could do to cause the error. In the sample of code you just displayed you link to mystyle.css but then you say your css file is called mypage.css. Later you call is something else. You need to make sure the link to the css file is linking to the correct file name and that they are both in the same directory. Then (as DevilBoy pointed out) your css style is not correct. If you change the name of the style to "body" then the style will apply because you are styling an html element (the body tag). If you want to use it as a custom class then you need to add the . in front. For instance .myclass But even that is not enough. Now you have a properly named class but it is not applied to anything. You then need to go into your html and apply it to a tag. An example would be <body class="mystyle">

CSS and html can be frustrating but I assure that your code is not perfect as you suggest and your mac is not the issue.
