iPod wont upload anything!!!

I have not idea if anything like this has been posted yet, im sure it has, but my ipod wont upload anything. I've had to restore it 3 times now, and on the last time everything seemed to be working fine, but then all of a sudden it just stopped uploading. It will start doing the upload then the progress bar just sits there, and the ipod makes a crackling noise, like crunched up newspaper. any ideas???
