iWeb -- Personal Domain

Can someone explain to me the benefits of a personal domain? If I have a registered domain, can't I just redirect it to a .mac domain anyway?

Isn't that just six on one, half dozen of the other? If you already have a registered domain, just use it with your .mac account instead of redirecting.

If you already have a registered domain, you must have seen some benefit in it before.

Maybe I just don't understand the question.

I was just asking hypothetically. I guess what I am asking is what is the benefit of the new personal domain feature in iWeb 08? What does it do?

It just makes it more convenient for the user instead of having to setup redirection. With one click, they see their website at mysite.com instead of their .mac address. They don't have to worry about DNS or the like.
