Encrypting / .jpegx files?

My friend loaned me an external HD with all their files from their PC. I'm supposed to take the picturesoff, but the whole thing is encrypted. I have the password and all I just don't know how to decrypt with my Mac...

AND the pictures are coming up a .jpegx files?! Can anyone explain this one and how to open them?! Thank you...

I think you may need to talk to your friend about how it is encrypted and make sure that you have the necessary decrypt tools. It sounds like you may not have them. Perhaps your friend could transfer all the files off onto a non encrypted external drive?
