It's easy to send out a signal and use a projector or w/e. But what if i'd like to use my monitor for something else, like hooking up a game system? Is it possible?

Yes, actually it is. But you can't just try to put a signal into the DVI port, it won't work. There are TV tuner cards/boxes for Macs, and one of those can be hooked up to a game system, and you can then use it to display video from the game system. Note though, that some of these cards lag slightly; neither of the PCI cards I have for my PCs (one ATi, one Leadtek) do, but some may, and that will throw off gameplay.
