Sometimes when a picture is supposed to show, I get these little blue question mark boxes instead:

Is there something I need to download to allow me to see pics?

(btw I dont know what OS my mac is, I bought it brand new August 3, 2007) so I figured it was the newest one, 10.5. Is this right?)

Can't be, OS 10.5 isn't out yet.

To know the OS version and all the hardware info on your Mac, just click on the blue Apple logo in the upper left side, in the menubar and select About This Mac in the drop down menu. Click on the More Info... button and you'll see all you'd want to know about your Mac.

Which browser gives you this problem? It does look though as if the webpage loads before the images have the time to appear.

Ok, I did what you said and it says:

System Version: Mac OS X 10.4.10

So it guess it's 10.4

Does this happen to anyone else? It happens pretty often for me.

that browser would be safari.
it's very similar to those little red x's in windows IE.
sometimes the pictures just didn't load, and refreshing the page does it.
other times, the actual image is no longer at that link, and the image doesn't exist.

Yeah, I'm using safari.

I refresh the page but they usually dont come up so I guess it must be that it no longer exists...

That usually happens when the browser is unable to get the pictures from the host via the web. It happens to me at work all the time because or LAN Nazi's have some seriously draconian policies.

Do you mean they have some kind of filter that prevents you from seeing it?

I don't have any kind of restrictions or filters on my internet connection
