It's not exactly a paradox, to be fair - starting the Help and Support service does not mean the same as opening Help and Support, it means going into Computer Management. On the other hand, there's no reason it can't start the Help and Support service itself, really...

Oh, and that's XP, not Vista...

Oh boy, I have been in the Windows using world for too long. I looked at that and said, OK, that makes sense. Let me go start the "Help and Support Service". I am not sure why it wouldn't be running, but the request makes sense... if you understand Windows convoluted reasoning!

Aren't Mac's wonderful? :D

Glad you noticed that. That was the first thing I said to myself when I saw the picture.

Time to make fun of Alexis instead of making fun of Windows. ;) I'm just playing.

It is pretty funny.

But, in all fairness, to get that error, it means a user of this computer has gone into Services and 1) Stopped this particular service, 2) Told Windows not to allow it to run and 3) then tried to use it.

Agreed. I have never seen that service turned off by default. Only a user going into the Services panel and stopping it, or a Virus could do it. Seen several services stopped and some started by Virus's and malware. One service that if running can scare the user is that messenger one. All of a sudden messages pop up on the screen and some not very nice! I have noticed that by default starting with either SP1 or SP2, that the messenger service is disabled in services! Good idea. It even freaked me out the first time with an old XP install on the net! :D

Still it's funny though!

Can someone just nuke Microsoft headquarters so that my uni course will stop forcing me to learn it. They're making way too much money.

I'm with PowerBookG4, Microsoft is stupid.

Not just because we love Mac, but because it actually is stupid and unstable.

...And a rip off.

...And their platform is built on a weak foundation of coding standard.

...And a rip off.

...And Bill is ugly.

...And Microsoft is going to collapse in the coming decade because they're complacent.

...And inefficient.

...And they overcharge their customers to compensate for their incompetance.

...And they rip you off.

...And they're cheap (as in strategically dominating the market).

I dont like Microsoft, anyone want to join my conquest in overthrowing them?

In all fairness, why would you do more if you can still make money by doing less? I mean it is an overly capitalist thing in that less effort or expense to make money.... but to each his own i guess...
