Apple Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter

Does anybody know if this connector carries a sound signal as well? I want to use this connector to connect my macbook to my HD tv but the TV has HDMI input without any RCA jacks for sound, so I assume HDMI connector carries the sound channel as well???. If I could buy the Apple Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter and a DVI to HDMI cable and get sound also and things would be perfect.

No, the video output on a Mac is solely for video. You would have to get a cable for the audio output as well.

There are switches out there, but they can get somewhat expensive, not to mention tedious.

Are you sure you don't have any other means for audio input into your TV? No 3.5mm plug or optical audio?
