Problems with songs made in iLife 06 when opening them in GarageBand 08 - SOS...

hi guys
i have just subscribed to this service so apologies so am not sure what i am doing...
i am trying to record songs on garageband amongst other apps.
most of my songs are almost finished and i worked on them in the last garageband before 08 came out recently.

i bought the ilife 08 yesterday, installed it, installed all loops i ever had etc...and now my songs only contain my vocal but all the instruments are gone (Instrument xxxx cannot be found).

the guys at the store said i would have no problems transporting the songs over 2 x versions of garageband.

does anyone know what is happening?
