How do I activate the functions on the F3 and F4 buttons on the keyboard?

I have the new keyboard that has the dashboard icon on the F4 button, and the "spread apart" button on the F3 key. Is there any way to activate these? Or is my keyboard broken?

Your Mac's Specs
iMac G5 20in 2gb Ram.Macbook Pro 15in 2GB RAM
go to system preference----->Keyboard and Mouse--->Keyboard Shortcuts
and change a few things
idk if it will help your problem but its worth trying
