Okay, Im using panther.

I deleted iChat becuase I dont have any use for it but software update keeps bugging me to update it. I tried a bunch of times to just update it so i dont have to keep seeing software update pop up all the time with the same thing. What can I do to remedy this?

You should be able to choose ignore update from the Software Update menu.

Okay, But would then it would never come up unless I check? I would still like to know about other updates automatically.

Just select the update that you don't want to see (in this case iChat), then open the "Update" menu in the menu bar and click on "Make inactive". None of the other updates will be affected.
