an annoying red pixel on my new powerbook

I just switched and got my 12" powerbook yesterday, and I noticed a red pixel that seems out of place. Should I bring it back to the dealer (before I import all my stuff from my PC)?

Also, I'm VERY new to Macs, and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good HTML editor?

What's your budget for the HTML editor? Dreamweaver is pretty good.

The dealer might not take it back. Manufacturers have a certain level of "acceptable" dead or stuck pixels, and the dealer might not accept it. And if you get a new one, it may have the same problem.

If that's what happens, you could try to "massage" it. Do a Google search for "massage dead pixel" for more on that.

I have a dead pixel, ripples in my screen and have just started worrying about this light spot on my screen.

What is this light spot??? It is in the top left hand croner of the screen

if your an adult, then maybe if you tell them your a photo journalist and the dead pixel is affecting your work, they might exchange it for you. But don't have your hope too high.

You may check your powerbook before leaving the store even better, ask to check the PowerBook before you pay. The battery will have enough juice to drive a startup... even if not... the store should be good enough to allow you to test the machine for faults.

The red pixel is dead and there is no way to fix it! Apple say that just one dead pixel is within their manufacturing tolerances and therefore TUFF!

I should've known better than to leave the store without opening the box. Ack. Ah, it's not good to be smitten by a cute manager. HAHA>

The psycho pixel is still there but it doesn't bother me that much anymore. I do photo-editing on my machine, too. I'll try that route.

I think, when the time comes to re-selling your powerbook, this psycho pixel might reduce the cost a little more. Sorry, but other people won't be happy buying a imperfect machine. Or maybe they will buy because it's cheap.

I know this sounds really bad, but lets hope your display dies within the warrenty period then Apple will have to replace it under the Warrenty Cover. 1 Year i think you get, unless you have Apple Care.
