Pages- Memory hog?

Your Mac's Specs
MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz, 160 gig HDD @ 5400, 2 gig RAM, nVIDIA 8600
I had 2 documents in Pages open today, one next to the other, and I noticed my computer was lagging a little. So I looked at the activity monitor,and it showed that Pages was using about 580 mb! Does that seem really high to anyone else?
